Make your stay in the Shenandoah Valley even more memorable with a Virginia vacation package at Smithfield Farm Bed and Breakfast. We offer a variety of travel specials throughout the year, including romantic getaways, activity packages, historic tours, and group lodging rates.

Let's Talk Bikes!              Clarke County and the surrounding area is quickly becoming known as a bicycling destination, and we love to accommodate all you hearty souls.  Several local bike tours occur throughout the year, but if you just want to ride  on wonderful back country roads, we have some ideas for you--anything from 10 or 15 milles  to work out the kinks to 50 miles or more for serious training.  Call us to talk about your interests, and we will have some suggestions.

The Happy Hiker             Bring your favorite walking stick and enjoy the views from our nearby Appalachian Trail. Walk a mile or two or all 14 miles of this section of the Trail on what AT hikers call “The Rollercoaster”, which skirts along a ridge of the Blue Ridge Mountains between VA Rt. 7 and US Rt. 50. When reaching Bears Den Scenic Rock, stop for a while to take in the stunning view of the Shenandoah Valley. We will provide drop-off and pick-up, if you desire, as well as water, trail mix snacks, and a light lunch. Upon returning from your hike, you will be greeted at the manor house with cheese and crackers, and a glass of wine or sparkling cider. Minimum two-night stay is required. Cost is $75/couple in addition to the room price.

Rent the Entire Inn               Plan a weekend with your friends and family at Smithfield Farm Bed and Breakfast. Do whatever makes you comfortable and the weekend special. May we suggest a wine-tasting tour, a scrapbooking weekend, a planned cooking or baking class, a pasta making class conducted by our own “pasta fairy”, art or craft instruction with our resident artist, Nancy, or perhaps shopping at nearby stores (without someone asking, “Are you about done?”). Or, how about a weekend of doing absolutely nothing but resting in the hammock under the trees with a good book and a glass of wine or sparkling cider and good companions to while away the hours. Maybe you’d enjoy visiting the chickens, our pet goat Poppy and friendly lamb Violet, or the pigs and cows out in the meadow. You plan it, and we’ll help by providing a casual picnic supper on the night you and your friends arrive. If you’re comfortable sharing a room, we can accommodate up to 12. If you prefer privacy, our B & B has 5 rooms, including our cottage and a bedroom suite. Call or email us and let us help tailor your wonderful weekend to your specific needs.

Ultimate Indulgences           Do you need to work out the kinks from your challenging and stress-filled life? May we suggest spending the weekend at Smithfield Farm? Our certified massage therapist can work magic by using a combination of gentle techniques specifically designed to relax and rejuvenate your body. The hour-long in-room massage will have you feeling like a brand new person. The package includes two nights' lodging, a gourmet breakfast each morning, and two massages. Two weeks notice required, please. A one-hour, in-room massage is $90/person in addition to the two-night stay at the farm.

EngagementsA Decent Proposal              Get engaged at Smithfield Farm! Let us in on your secret plans, and we’ll take it from there. How you want to pop the question is up to you, but we can make the occasion even more romantic by having a bottle of chilled wine at the ready, a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers, and a box of gourmet chocolates. All for $75 in addition to a two-night stay. Add massages, horseback riding, hiking, picnicking, wherever your fancy takes you, we’ll help to make it happen. Just call or email ahead, and we’ll work out all the details with you to ensure the answer is “YES!”.

Civil War History Weekend          Known as the “Breadbasket of the Confederacy”, the Shenandoah Valley was fiercely contested by both sides during the Civil War. Winchester and Frederick County did not lack for excitement as battles were fought within the city and throughout the county. Our Civil War in the Shenandoah Valley Package will lude an extended tour conducted by Civil War historian, Todd Kern, and will take guests to the Battle of Cedar Creek site and museum, the Kernstown Battlefield site and museum, and Confederate General Stonewall Jackson’s headquarters in Winchester. While in the city, you will tour the walking mall and eat lunch (provided by the bed & breakfast) on the lawn of the old Frederick County Courthouse, where Confederate soldiers were once held captive, and visit the Civil War Museum at the Courthouse. Along with the tour and lunch, the package includes two nights' lodging at the farm and a gourmet breakfast each morning. Call the innkeeper for pricing details.

Tee Fore Two Golfers' Dream                   Enjoy breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains while playing a round or two of golf along the lazy Shenandoah River flowing beside the Virginia National Golf Club, which has been awarded a 4 1/2 star rating by Golf Digest. The course is just 10 minutes from Smithfield Farm. We will setup your tee times, whether in the afternoon of your arrival at Smithfield or after a delicious breakfast the next morning--or both! This package also includes reservations and a $50 gift certificate towards dinner at the Battletown Inn Restaurant.
